IslandStats.com
On February 22nd at 6:05 pm, The Hope4Life Foundation will once again host Hope4Life Night at the Baltimore Arena as the Syracuse Silver Knights square up the Baltimore Blast.

Please bring (new and used) soccer balls to be distributed to needy youth. The balls will be thrown on the field after the 1st quarter in a powerful show of humanitarianism and goodwill for kids. Soccer equipment of any description (including: shin guards jerseys, shorts etc.) is also requested and may be left at the ticket counter upon entering the arena. Youth groups and others are asked to purchase tickets from The Hope4Life Foundation to support this effort. A portion of the proceeds will go to support Hope4Life’s Annual Campaign. To get involved, or for ticket information, call 717.514.1612. To schedule an interview with David Bascome please contact Paul Mittermeier 443-253-1475 or paulm@edblock.org.

David Bascome, retired pro soccer player, founder of The Hope4life Foundation and a native of Bermuda, many professional soccer players in the US are from other countries. Some bring with them memories of homemade kick balls for the boys in the neighborhood to kick around. Others bring the pain of not having a pair of shoes until the age of 12. This was the reality for so many. Last year’s Hope4Life night provided an opportunity for players and the community to give back.

For years, Baltimore Blast players have served as mentors and role models for children in the Baltimore City Schools. With the help of The Hope4Life Foundation, even more is being done to help local youth. Since last year, the Foundation has expanded its partnership with Baltimore City Schools to include the “Power of One” student leadership development process. The program is proving to be a great motivator to participants and helps, students, parents, and teachers develop a shared vision for student success. This year, the focus of Hope4life Night will shift its focus toward the disadvantaged youth of the local Baltimore community.

Last year pro soccer teams, the Baltimore Blast and the Wichita Wings, faced off in a match that would prove to be more than just a fiery battle for the win. Hundreds of members from the community along with thousands of Blast fans showed up for a worthy cause. It was Hope4Life Night at The Baltimore Arena; corporate supporters, nonprofit organizations, educators, and students showed up armed with soccer balls, shin guards, jerseys, shorts, and other soccer equipment that would be distributed to children in third world countries. What a breathtaking sight to see scores of children leaves the bleachers to throw their soccer ball onto the field in an effort to touch the lives of other children less fortunate.

The Hope4Life Foundation, Inc. is an international non-for-profit organization with the goal of youth leadership development. The organization was founded David Bascome, retired professional soccer player and former Baltimore Blast team member (jersey #40) and a current member of the Blast coaching staff. Hope4Life targets the following focus areas: Cultural Unity, Academic Excellence, and Advocacy for Abused & Neglected Children. The organization helps youth overcome personal challenges and become future leaders. The organization has adopted the “Power of One” concept and emphasizes the belief that one person can make a difference. The Baltimore Blast has been a part of Baltimore’s sports community since 1983. They are seven time MISL Champions and as always will dazzle the hearts and minds of diehard soccer fans and Hope4Life supporters in the 10,000 seat Mariner Arena on February 22nd, 2014 at 6:05 pm.
