Swansea Goalkeeping Coach Coming to Bermuda

A top level English Premier Division goalkeeping coach Adrian Tucker will be coming to Bermuda to give a hand to Bermuda’s young goalkeepers and coaches.

Calvin Blankendal the CEO of the Bermuda Brazilian Football School said, “We have another exciting opportunity for the legion of goal-keepers and goal-keeping coaches/club coaches. We promise you that you will not be disappointed.”

Thirty Five year old Tucker joined Swansea City Football Club as the 1st Team Goalkeeper Coach in August 2009, and recently assisted them in becoming the first Welsh based Football Club to win promotion to the English Premier League via a Wembley Play off Final Victory in May 2011, over Reading FC .

Prior to his Arrival at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea Tucker worked for over 13 years with the Technical Department of the Football Association of Wales, The Welsh Football Trust (WFT). During this period his Personal Development progressed not just as a Goalkeeping Coach to the highest FA ‘A’ Licence Level but also to become one of only 3 Welsh coaches to receive the UEFA ‘Pro’ Coaching Licence. He also achieved a Bsc Degree in Sports Science from the University of Glamorgan.

Tucker’s main roles at the WFT involved assisting with the ongoing developments of the Associations Player Development and Coach Education Programmes as a Regional Coaching Co-ordinator, to which his skills as a coach of outfield players and goalkeepers where highlighted together with that of educating coaches of all ages from grass roots to international players.

He also had spells as the Goalkeeping Coach to the Wales National U16, 17, and 19 squads and became Team Manager of the Wales Women’s National Team for a 3 Year period before increased commitments with Swansea City saw him relinquish the role.

Now as a valued member of Brendan Rodgers backroom staff Tucker’s professionalism and work at Swansea City has seen him work the senior goalkeepers Dorus D’Vries, Jose Moreira and current Netherlands International Michel Vorm.
