Lambe - Team Put Heart & Soul in the Game

IslandStats.com
Mansfield Town winger Reggie Lambe was delighted with the team’s efforts during their 3-1 victory over Barnet.

Goals from Lambe, Matt Green and an Elliott Johnson own goal wrapped up the points for Mansfield after John Akinde’s second-half penalty had given the Bees hope.

After losing to Exeter in midweek, Lambe said Mansfield put their ‘heart and soul’ into the victory at The Hive Stadium.

“We put our heart and soul into that game. As a team, we stuck to it and got the three points.

“I think our center-backs dealt with their threat very well. The wind here was a massive downfall, I’d say, for our game. You couldn’t really judge the ball for headers but I think our back line did the job and got us the three points.

“To get the win and get back in the top seven is massive for us. Everyone’s just buzzing right now to get back into the top seven.”

The Bermudian scored his second goal of the season to open the scoring against the Bees and he’s hoping the strike will act as a catalyst in the scoring stakes.

“I just popped up in the box. Clem (Chris Clements) nodded it on to me and I was quick to get to it and just made sure I hit the target,” Lambe said about his opener.

“I set myself a target of twelve goals at the start of the season. It’s a bit far-fetched but I got five last season and that was basically half the season, so I think I can pop up with a few more and some assists as well.”

Although the winger would like to score more goals for Mansfield, Lambe’s main aim is to hold down a regular place in the side this season.

“This year is all about keeping my shirt. I have chats with the gaffer here and there where he lets me know what I need to improve on. But for me, it’s just going out on the pitch and keep performing.”
