Trott Back At West Ham With Groin Injury

IslandStats.com
Nathan Trott is back at West Ham United for treatment on an injury, Wimbledon have confirmed. Trott is on loan at AFC Wimbledon but he missed the opening day of the Football League season due to injury.

Trott replaced Aaron Ramsdale as Wimbledon’s number one with ex-West Ham coach Wally Downes in charge in South London. Speaking to London News Online, Downes said: “He’s got a little bit of a groin problem. West Ham are looking at him and have taken it out of our hands really so that’s ongoing, we’ll see where we are next week.”

Trott has a big season ahead of him. The England Under 20 stopper, has never played a senior game aside from some EFL Trophy action with West Ham’s Under 23 team.

He has now been given a chance to showcase his ability in a competitive environment for Wimbledon, who play in League One. But after featuring heavily in pre-season, it is disappointing that he picked up an injury just before the season started.

Nik Tzanev took his place and made his Football League debut against Rotherham United. Despite Wimbledon’s 2-1 loss, Tzanev played well and earned rave reviews from Downes.

Trott faces a battle to wrestle the starting spot off Tzanev if the New Zealander keeps his form up. But the Hammers youngster will be hoping to be playing regular football to develop and show Manuel Pellegrini that he will be ready for first-team action in the near future.
