More growing frustrations as Netball Courts at the Bernard Park been the target of vandalism yet again. This time it is of a racial tone, with homophobia context.

Slanderous words have been painted on the courts and now it is being dealt with by both the Bermuda Police Service and the Department of Youth and Sports.

A Police spokesperson said, “Sometime overnight a vandal yet again defaced the surface of the Netball Court on Dutton Avenue in Pembroke in an act of willful damage with the suspect(s) writing offensive language. Police have commenced an investigation and we are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have any information that may lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect(s) to contact police on 2950011.”

Jekon Edness the Senior Sports Development Officer for the Department of Youth and Sports said, “The Department is looking to have additional lights and cameras erected at the facility, but he is unsure if that would even stop the vandalism.”
