Donawa Named Ivy League Player of the Week

IslandStats.com
Dartmouth Men’s Soccer midfielder Justin Donawa has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week for his performance in the team’s 2-1 victory over Princeton in double overtime.

The Sandys, Bermuda native scored the first goal for the Big Green in the 62nd minute. His freshman teammate Dawson McCartney sent a deep pass over the 18 to Donawa, who headed the ball over Princeton defenders and off the left post into the net.

Throughout the game, he split the corner kicks with McCartney, creating several other chances for his team to score and keeping the tempo up.

As the time ticked down and play went into a first and then second overtime period, the Dartmouth offense had chances to score but was unable to. In the 113th Donawa set up for a free kick, passing the ball towards Wyatt Omsberg, who passed it to Matt Danilack, who headed the ball into the net, winning the game.

This is Donawa’s second career weekly award, and the first for the Big Green this season.
