Smoger who has previously refereed fights in Bermuda featuring Teresa Perozzi, is universally recognized as one of the best referees in boxing. In recent years, he has also been a municipal court judge in Ventnor, Margate, Port Republic, and Pleasantville, New Jersey.
Throughout Smoger’s career he has been in the ring officiating fights involving big names in boxing such as Lennox Lewis vs. Bruce Johnson, as well as James Toney vs. Mike McCallum (1st meeting) for the IBF Middleweight Title, Larry Holmes vs. Ray Mercer, Roy Jones Jr. vs. Bernard Hopkins (1st meeting) for the IBF Middleweight Title, Bernard Hopkins vs. Felix Trinidad for the WBC, WBA, and IBF Middleweight Titles, Brian Nielsen vs. Mike Tyson and John Ruiz vs. Evander Holyfield (3rd meeting) for the WBA Heavyweight Title just to name a few.
