Twenty-One Complete UEFA C License Course

IslandStats.com
Twenty One local football coaches completed their UEFA “C” License equivalence course run by The Bermuda Football Coaches association (BFCA) and conducted by former Liverpool first team coach Jacques Crevoisier together with several local Coach Educators.

The course, which runs in two parts, began in May 2016 and was recently completed.

The course placed emphasis on a wide variety of topics ranging from coaching education to football knowledge.

The 40-hour long course is divided into practical and theoretical sessions. The theoretical aspect covers coaching programs for each age category, coaching education and development, coaching competence and keys to team success. The practical aspect of the course, which is carried out on the field, accounts for 30 of the 40 hours and focuses on coaches delivering drills that highlight the technical aspects of football such as control, passing and dribbling.

President of the BFCA, Scott Morton was delighted with the quality of coaches on show and praised their flexibility as many sessions had to be rearranged or took place in heavy rain due to the approach of Tropical Storm Karl. “It certainly proved to be challenging but as coaches we have to learn to adapt. I am pleased to say all coaches rose to the challenge and visibly grew in confidence as the course progressed. Many of them commented about their excitement and being able to take their newly polished skills back onto the field for the benefit of their clubs”.

This coaching initiative which began in 2012 has now produced 145 UEFA C license equivalent qualified coaches. “These coaches make such a huge difference out in the community especially at a youth football level where they introduce discipline and structure in their training and games and this has a very positive impact on and off the field” noted Morton.

The BFCA will be launching an Introduction to Coaching course later this year that will be aimed at new coaches and parents who want to have exposure to the benefits of coaching but who may not be ready for the “C” license equivalent course. This course when launched will involve 10 hours of participation which will include observing practical sessions run by qualified coaches aimed at helping the coaches to organize and deliver training drills. More information and dates of courses will be forthcoming over the next two months.
