IslandStats.com
Saturday September 10th marked the first Annual Law Enforcement Torch Relay run for the Bermuda Special Olympics.

The event is known worldwide as the largest public awareness and fundraising event for all Special Olympics branches.

Special Olympics Bermuda is committed to breaking barriers for those with intellectual disabilities and is working toward raising funds to taking a contingent of athletes to the 2019 World Games.

The relay commenced at 8:30am at each end of the island with the torch being handed over after two mile legs. Both torches met at the bottom of Lane Hill on East Broadway where a large contingent of participants could be seen running through the city of Hamilton and finally ending at Police Field were the main fire cauldron was lit by Del-Che Landy and Bridgette Marshall.

This event will be the first of many fundraisers for Special Olympics Bermuda.

The Special Olympics Committee will now turn their attention to a Track Meet at the National Sports Center on Saturday September 17th at 9:00am.
