Sentwali Woolridge IslandStats.com The Bermuda Sanshou Association (BSA) have had a busy 2015 winning a total of Five Medals.
In April Reyel Bowen headlined Fight Night XVII losing a very competitive match to Canada’s Cole Fetzner. BSA athletes Krista Dyer and Zain Philpott both won their debut full contact matches.
During the month of June Head Coach Garon Wilkinson taught a 3-day Intro to Sanda seminar in Barbados after being invited by the Barbados Wushu Taichi Association.
In July Samir Furqan (Super Lightweight), Sentwali Woolridge (Super Middleweight) and Reyel Bowen (Light Heavyweight) all won World Sanda League Championship Titles at the International Chinese Martial Arts Championships in Orlando, Florida.
Sentwali Woolridge won a Gold Medal in the Men’s 75kg category after defeating Brazil, Venezuela and Mexico at the Monterrey International Sanda Cup in September. Reyel Bowen won the Bronze. Oscar Lightbourne served as a judge.
November saw Keanu Wilson, Zain Philpott and Shannon Ford represented BSA at Championship Boxing and were all victorious. Philpott recorded a spectacular knock out capturing Fight of the Night.
Also in November Krista Dyer, Sentwali Woolridge and Reyel Bowen represented Bermuda at the 13th World Wushu Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia placing in the top 16.
