As we all know on Sunday the Bermuda Under 20 National Football team went down 8 – 0 to Haiti in their second CFU 2015 Women’s Under 20 Finals Group A match thus bowing out of the tournament.
It is really unfortunate, but one knows that if it was the Men playing one of the National Sports this would have been in Monday’s Press and not Wednesday and not last in a report.
Naquita Robinson the Women’s Under 20 National Coach said, “We did not show up, we had players who did not perform well enough for us to advance.”
Haiti made three changes to their team that faced Puerto Rico a team Bermuda defeated 1 – 0 and the team who defeated Haiti 3 – 0.
“Going into the game we knew we had a goal difference of 4 on our side, but some players just did not show up to the party, we failed to do the small things that would have seen us advance, which included tackling, challenging and running hard,” continued Robinson.
Robinson would not be drawn in on thinking that Haiti would allow themselves to be defeated 3 – 0 and put themselves in a hole.
Robinson went on to say, “Haiti could not have thought that Bermuda was that bad that they could give themselves the deficit they did, but we showed maybe we are as bad as they thought.”
