Now that politicians are speaking out on the latest incident of violence in Sports, the public is also hitting back.
Politicians are constantly telling people how they should act publicly and what is tolerable, however inside the walls of no prosecution which is the House of Assembly they act totally opposite to what they say!
Sports has been the avenue for many people to advance in life, including some of those in the House of Assembly, but as we all have to agree, the social ills of the country and the behavior of our leaders has not helped the situation.
Stopped by a few people having a conversion I feel compelled to publicly express the sentiments, www.islandstats.com was asked the question of what is wrong with Cricket and Football, “I first had to remind them, while only those two sports get highlighted other sports are also experiencing the same problems, maybe not to the level of Football and Cricket but on could see things heading in the same direction.
We someone can find a place were they know they can say and do whatever they want and not have a visit from members of the Bermuda Police Service, the regular people ask, well were and when can I do the same?
For years, Bermudians were subjected to the local Sports Media constantly highlighting the negative on certain sports while other sports were allowed to get pass, because of their affiliation with that media or the reporter.
And people would eat it up, however now with a new generation of Sports Media, the old guard is fighting change and trust me when I say, THEY DON’T LIKE IT. They are force to follow and chase behind, because now Bermudians are finding out more of what we are doing and have been doing in the pass all this time and it is not all bad!
Politicians need to look in the mirror and ask themselves how has my behavior or lack thereof contributed to what is transpiring throughout the Country.
What I finished by saying was, our leaders need to stop talking at each other and start talking to each other to show the general public that you can have a different opinion but be able to discuss it with respect.
