Bermuda’s Sentwali Woolridge captured a Gold Medal in Monterrey, Mexico during the 2nd Pan American Sanda Cup, while Reyel Bowen won the Bronze Medal arrived back at the LF Wade international Airport. Look out for a studio Interview or a photo under a tree.
President of the Bermuda San Shou Association Garon Wilkinson said, “This has set us up for the Wushu World Championships as both these fighters return home healthy and have had some good competition under their belts.”
Woolridge said, “I always want to end my fights early, I don’t like leaving it to the judges to choose a winner, so I just try to remain focused on what needs to be done.”
Bowen said, “I knew my opponent, I just need to be more technical and mix up my technic.”
Woolridge defeated Karim Orozco Zazueta from Mexico in the Championship Fight in Monterrey, Mexico. Taking on a local favorite, Woolridge won the bout 2 rounds to 0 in a great match.
Woolridge defeated Yovier Jose Canelon Rodriguez from Venezuela in the Semi-Final via Knockout in the second round, Woolridge lost the first round on points.
Bowen went down 2 rounds to 0 against Daniel Dionicio Madeira from Brazil. Bowen fought well but his opponent Madeira was on point and is a very technical fighter.
