The Bermuda Sanshou Association (BSA) is off to compete in their first overseas competition of the year this week. Sentwali Woolridge, Reyel Bowen and Samir Furqan will be representing the Association at the 17th Annual International Martial Arts Championships in Orlando Florida from July 10th – 12th.
Woolridge, who is current Pan American Wushu and Sanda Cup Gold Medalist will be competing in the 156 -170 pound weight category. Reigning Pan American Sanda Cup Gold Medalist Bowen, who headlined this year’s Teacher’s Rugby Fight Night will be competing in the 171 – 185 pound division. The youngest member of the team, Furqan will be competing in the 125 -135 pound weight division.
This is the second time that BSA has competed in the Sanda category of this International event with Woolridge claiming the title and belt in his weight category back in 2012. There are a number of fighters from various countries have confirmed their registration including Bahamas, Canada, Panama, Puerto Rico, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
