It was a night of confusion for the Bermuda Under 19 National Cricket Team who are representing the Country in the ICC Americas Under 19 World Cup Qualifying Tournament.
On the eve of the tournament the players show up to the team hotel only to be told they would have to go back home as there were no rooms available for them, www.islandstats.com asked the Bermuda Cricket Board for a statement on the situation.
Neil Speight the Bermuda Cricket Board CEO said, “The Bermuda Cricket Board can confirm that it received written confirmation from Clearview on March 24th, 2015 for rooms to house all Tournament Officials and Players. The confirmation specifically identified the number of guests and room configurations.
On Saturday July 4th the Bermuda Squad Management were informed that there were no rooms available for the Bermuda players.
The Bermuda Cricket Board were left with no option except to ask the players to go back to their homes for that night.
The Bermuda Cricket Board have today arranged for the Bermuda squad to be housed at the Grotto Bay Hotel.
We express sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the management of Grotto Bay for their swift and helpful assistance.”
