Eastern County President Steven Douglas

Following a recent robbery that took place on Monday Evening, that saw Islandstats.com inquire, the Eastern County Cup Association have released a statement on the situation.

“On Monday June 29th, a large sum of cash along with the admission wrist bands for the 3 Eastern County games for 2015 was stolen from the St. David’s Cricket Club grounds. The funds were the result of the collection of sales for spots for the Annual Eastern County Game Series to be held in St. David’s this year. The Eastern County Family is especially saddened by this callous theft.

Consequently, we would like for those who have purchased spots, and the general public, to know that the wrist bands that were stolen will not be accepted for admission to this year’s series. Anyone who has purchased a spot are asked to bring their wrist band allocations and their receipt from the spot sales to the Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club on July 11th between 1:00pm and 6:00pm to have them replaced. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by this unfortunate incident.

Police are currently conducting an investigation into the matter and the Eastern County Family urges anyone who may have any information to please contact the Bermuda Police Service.

The Eastern County Cup Series has been in place since 1904 and involves the teams from St. David’s Cricket Club, Tucker’s Town Cricket Club (now known as Cleveland County Cricket Club), Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club and The Flatt’s Victoria Recreational Club.

This year’s series will take place at Lord’s in St. David’s and will be played on July 18th, August 15th and August 29th. The Champions, Cleveland County Cricket Club will open their defense of the coveted trophy against Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club. The remaining fixtures will see Flatt’s play second and St. David’s play the final match.”
