North Village to Host Annual Triangular Fundraiser

IslandStats.com
North Village will be hosting its Annual Triangular Football fundraising event, this Saturday, in an effort to raise funds for popular North Village Community Club footballer and deejay Kacy Simons, a.k.a. DJ Kacy, who is suffering from a rare form of cancer.

Former North Village President, Shervin Dill said, “Kacy is well known in the community as an outstanding player and deejay, but to North Village, Kacy is a loved brother. Kacy started playing with North Village as a teenager in the Reserve division.

His talent was recognized by his Coach, the late Doc Dowling, and he was quickly elevated to the Premier Team.

“He played a significant role in the Premier team’s success as a versatile midfielder or full back, playing alongside team mates and peers such as Shaun Goater , Parks Dill, the Bascome’s (Andrew, Herbie, David), the Jennings (Elliott, Kentoine, Kavin), Neil Diamond, Vince Trott, and his brothers Dean and Eugene (Pickles) Smith, to name a few.

“Kacy has played in every Senior Division team for North Village and he also played a short Premier stint at Hamilton Parish Workman’s Club. Kacy was a fierce competitor marshaling the midfield. His demeanor on the field was to build on the friendships he made with all teams and players from Somerset to St. George’s.

“Kacy was the Club’s official home game deejay for many years and he offered his services for numerous North Village events held over the years. He assisted with Youth Events, Club Cruises, Prize Giving Ceremonies, Cup Celebrations and of course fundraising events to benefit players in need of financial assistance. It is now our turn to give back to Kacy”, said Dill .

After suffering from back pain for approximately 8 months, Kacy was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that begins in the blood's plasma cells. To date, Kacy has received two treatments overseas and he continues to receive chemotherapy locally.

On April 25th, starting at 3pm, the event will see the Masters teams from three local clubs come together to help raise funds to defray Kacy’s mounting medical expenses: North Village Community Club, St. George’s Cricket Club and Hamilton Parish Workmen Club.

Each player will donate $20 to play. The clubs encourage everyone to come out and support the event. Donations will be accepted at the game or by online bank transfer to North Village’s HSBC account number 010362564001. All online transfers should reference “Kacy Simons”.

This marks North Village’s 4th Annual Triangular Football fundraiser to benefit one of its members suffering from illness and in need of financial assistance. Former recipients of the funds raised include Mark “Burger” Jennings, Stevie Dickinson and Kamala (Nakia) Smith.
