And The Wait For Answers Continues

Ministers Remain Silent on Bermudians Pay for Convict

Islandstats.com sent an email yesterday requesting a comment from Ministers, regarding the allowance of Mr. Lawrence Taylor in Bermuda to play in an event Sponsored by the People of Bermuda.

Just to give the Ministers an idea of who Mr. Lawrence Taylor is:

Mr. Lawrence Taylor is a former New York Giants Linebacker who is currently on probation after he pled guilty to sexual misconduct involving a 16-year old girl back in 2011. He is still on Probation and will be until the year Bermuda Hosts the Americas Cup.

We asked for Ministers of four Ministries for comments as Mr. Taylor was allowed to come to Bermuda to take part in a Sporting Event.

Minister responsible for Sports – It was a Sport

Minister of Tourism - Event sponsored by the Bermuda Tourism Authority

Minister of Immigration – A convicted Sex Offender on Probation until 2017

Minister of National Security – Responsible for the Protection of All the People of Bermuda

A reply to the request from one Minister indicated that one should contact the Bermuda Tourism Authority who sponsored the event.

The Bermuda Tourism Authority were informed by Islandstats.com back in late January, early February of Mr. Taylor’s situation, but did nothing to ask or suggest to the organizers to remove him, (If they did and he was not they should have removed themselves and made it known publicly and why).

What does this say to Bermudians, that can’t travel for minor offense! (NO I am not making excuses as a crime is a crime).

Islandstats.com ran a story last week Friday April 10th that Mr. Taylor was playing at Port Royal (we have video and pictures of Mr. Taylor).

It was hoped that the Ministers would have responded to the question of What does it say to Bermudians that a convicted and still on Probation Sex Offender can be brought to Bermuda on their dime an enjoy the beauty of everyone in this islands hard work and tax payers dollars, when Bermudians with minor offenses can leave the island?

Questions that need answering!
