The Bermuda Olympic Association (“BOA”) today announced that it has reached an agreement with IslandStats.com (“IslandStats”) to provide in-depth coverage of Bermuda athletes’ performance at the XX Commonwealth Games being held in Glasgow, Scotland from 23 July to 3 August 2014.
Earl Basden, IslandStats’ owner and principal reporter, will travel to Glasgow with the Bermuda team to capture event results, photos and videos of the various competitions and ceremonies and will conduct interviews with the athletes. The in-depth coverage of the Bermuda team’s experience at the Games, which will be available only from the BOA, will be hosted on the BOA website at www.olympics.bm with links available at www.IslandStats.com.
Lee Greene, Chairman of the BOA’s marketing committee said, “We are excited to be working with IslandStats to offer in-depth coverage of Bermuda’s athletes’ performance and perspectives from the Commonwealth Games. Earl is a seasoned sports journalist who knows our athletes well and has made a career of delivering timely, insightful information about Bermuda’s sportsmen and sportswomen to an appreciative public. With his help, the BOA is positioned to deliver detailed coverage and footage of the Games that won’t be available in the mainstream media.”
Mr. Basden said, “It is an honour for IslandStats to have been selected to partner with the BOA for the Commonwealth Games. Sports—and celebrating our athletes’ achievements—is something that can help unify our community. Helping the BOA enhance awareness of our athletes is something that I am looking forward to. IslandStats will be capturing history in the making and helping the BOA build an archive that will be available for years to come.”
