Emily Dunne and her Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Women's Lacrosse teammates had 10 players earn a point in its 18-2 victory over Framingham State University. Sophomore Isabella DiDio paced MIT with a game-high five goals. Freshman Amy Rotger recorded goals for Framingham State.
MIT rattled off eight straight goals during the first 14:20 of the game, including three in the first 1:04 of action. Sophomore Kira Schott put MIT on the board after 30 seconds expired while junior Lyndsy Muri followed with an unassisted marker of her own. Schott won the ensuing draw and set up DiDio for the first of her three consecutive goals as the hosts went up 5-0 at the 26:16 mark. MIT controlled the action during the next five minutes as goals by sophomore Kristyn Berretta and freshman Erica Green came nine seconds apart. Sophomore Rachel Weinberg capped the run with a free-position strike midway through the half.
Following some back-and-forth play, Framingham State began to find its rhythm on the offensive end as freshman Kristen Hoggins was awarded a free-position shot following a previous strike that was stopped by MIT junior goalie Candice Kaplan. Although her bid was saved, freshman Kayla Hopkins came up with the groundball and quickly found Rotger for the goal with 11:03 on the clock. MIT replied with two more DiDio goals to enter halftime with a 10-1 advantage.
An exchange of possessions opened the second stanza before Rotger connected on a feed from freshman Lindsay Nixon at the 27:36 mark. During the next 13 minutes, MIT gradually increased its margin to 15-2. Muri found sophomore Kristen Eller for the first score while a strike by Green came next. Freshman Keeley Erhardt contributed two goals during the spurt as classmate Tate DeWeese added a solo effort of her own.
Despite the deficit, Farmingham continued to attack. However, shots from freshman Jessica Graham and Nixon were stopped by freshman goalie Stephanie Pavlick as a free-position attempt by senior Amanda Geary was blocked by a defender. After trading turnovers, MIT sophomore Nadia Wallace generated a caused turnover deep in its offensive zone and then found Green for the goal with 7:04 left to play. Less than two minutes later, Muri earned her third assist of the night on a blast by Berretta while Schott closed the game with a free-position marker with 55 seconds remaining.
Muri totaled one goal, three assists, three groundballs, and two caused turnovers as Green finished with three goals and an assist. In addition to her two goals, Berretta posted three groundballs and two draw controls. Erhardt paced the Cardinal and Gray with five groundballs while Schott produced two goals, one assist, four draw controls, and three groundballs. Weinberg had one goal and one assist as Wallace recorded two caused turnovers. In the first half, Kaplan collected three saves while Pavlick registered the same performance in the final 30 minutes of regulation.
Rotger tacked on three draw controls and two groundballs as Nixon picked up three groundballs and three draw controls. Hopkins also had three groundballs while senior Marissa Canfield totaled two groundballs and one caused turnover. Hoggins along with freshmen Katelyn Belcher and Lindsay Albert each scooped up two groundballs. In net, sophomore Alysha Cericola compiled seven saves and two groundballs for Farmingham.
