Shadow Sports Minister Michael Weeks today said, “The Bermuda Progressive Labour Party would like to extend our congratulations to two of Bermuda's young athletes who have achieved victories in international competition.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Flora Duffy for her win at the Totalsports XTERRA event in South Africa. Over the years Ms. Duffy has made a tremendous contribution to local sports and she continues to represent Bermuda in impeccable fashion on the world stage. We congratulate Ms. Duffy on her victory and wish her even greater success in the future.
We are pleased to recognize Bermudian boxer Nicki Bascome who in his boxing professional debut, recorded a unanimous points victory against his opponent at the Highlands County Fair Convention Centre in Sebring, Florida. With a bright future ahead of him, we expect many more victories for Mr. Bascome in the future.
Bermuda is blessed with talent and we are grateful for these athletes for their hard work and commitment to their sports.”
