St. George’s Colts footballer Chea Simmons is in a battle for his life in Boston.

Simmons was airlifted out of Bermuda early this morning.

Mayor of St. George’s Kenneth Bascome who is the uncle of Simmons said, “I would first like to thank those in the general public who have kept Chea in their prayers, we still at this time do not know what the prognosis is, we are just hoping that he can make a full recovery from this.”

Simmons was admitted to the King Edward Memorial Hospital over the weekend with an unsuspected illness that has taken a turn for the worst and has been flown out for additional medical treatment.

Simmons transferred back to St. George’s Colts a few season ago after spending several years playing for the Boulevard Blazers.

Simons was instrumental in helping St. George’s Colts finish 5th in the Premier Division Standings two seasons ago and also helped the St. George’s Colts stay in the Digicel Premier Division last season.
