The 2012-2013 South Kent Prefects were named as Bermuda’s Shakhai Trott was named as the Head Boy.
South Kent School Elections are held at the end of the school year and both students and faculty vote on who should be prefects, Trott will serve as Head Prefect and his role will be to act as the liaison between the students and Head of School Andrew Vadnais.
Five seniors lead the student body as prefects during the 2012-2013 academic year as Trott will serve with Anthony Florentino, Cam McFarlane, Jonghyuk Lee and Chi-Chen Hsieh. All of the prefects are seniors, called Sixth Formers at South Kent School, and their duties are to lead the student body during the year. The prefects work together with the Head of School and the faculty in the operation of the school.
While this year’s voting was decisive, there was, according to Mr. Vadnais, a large group of very qualified candidates for the five prefect positions. “Trott was a great choice for Head Prefect based on his fine character, his substantial achievements at the school and his demonstrated leadership ability,” commented the Head of School. “I expect that he will have some solid support from both his fellow prefects as well as the other strong leaders within his class.”
