Molly Pilgrim took part on Day 1 of the UK School Games. Pilgrim is competing in the Road and Track Cycling for the South West Team.
The Cycling took place at the Redbridge Cycling Centre just North of London in Essex. As is typical for the start of the UK summer, it was cold and wet.
The first event was the Crit Eliminator which involved Heats, Semi-Finals and Finals - racing was over 4 laps of a 500m course, with short sharp hills and some very tight turns.
Pilgrim finished 4th in the C-D Semi-Final and she advanced to the C Final where she ended 10th, which placed her 35th overall out of 50 in the Crit.
The afternoon saw the 40km road race involving 15 laps of a 2.2km circuit with a challenging hill. Pilgrim finished 16th out of the field of 50.
