IslandStats.com
WindReach Bermuda is excited to announce that 6 of their adaptive sports participants will be travelling to Montreal, Canada on Wednesday April 25th to compete in the Defi Sportif Tournament. There will be a total of 13 different sports played during the mulit-sport competition, with our participants taking part in the boccia. With 4,000 parathletes from around the world descending on Montreal for the tournament alongside 2000 officials this will be an incredible experience for the Bermuda contingent.

The WindReach boccia participants include Livingston Tuzo, Yushae Simmons, Jaime Brangman, Jamal Bean, Roger Chasty and Steve Wilson. They will be accompanied by WindReach’s Adaptive Sports Coordinator, Troy Farnsworth, as well as their caregivers.

Almost $12,000 has been raised by the parathletes to help cover the cost of the trip; who give a very big thanks to Butterfield and Vallis, The National Office for Seniors and the Physically Challenged and the Bermuda Paralympic Association who have generously supported their fundraising efforts.

Troy Farnsworth, WindReach Bermuda Adaptive Sports Coordinator, said, I am so proud to be part of this group traveling to Montreal to represent Bermuda next week. This is the first time that we have had a boccia group travel overseas and I know that everyone is full of anticipation and excitement for what lies ahead. This is a huge step for our parathletes and while we appreciate that we are a tiny contingent amongst the thousands of other competitors, I know that everyone has been training hard and that they will make Bermuda proud.

The tournament will take place from April 26th – April 29th. The Bermuda team will fly with Air Canada, departing Bermuda on Wednesday April 25th and returning on Monday April 30th.
