Four Ivy League Women's Heavyweight Rowing Crews including Shelley Pearson and her Harvard University teammates, took to racing on Lake Carnegie in Princeton, N.J.
Competing in the Varsity Eight Pearson and her teammates finished third, Princeton led the Varsity Eight race from the outset, but Harvard got off to a strong start to run in second place through 750 meters. Cornell and Columbia, dueling in neighboring lanes, both gained the upper hand on Harvard in the middle of the race.
Pearson and her teammates moved back in the final 500 meters to edge Cornell by a half-second in 7:20.4. Columbia held off Harvard by 1.3 seconds and finished five seconds behind Princeton, who posted a time of 7:14.1.
