During the Thirty-First Annual Sports Awards Programme held at Camden, www.islandstats.com got a chance to speak with the Junior Male and Female Athletes of the Year.
Tonight for the first time you hear from them in their own words.
Also after being crowned the Male Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year Tyrone Smith said, “It's definitely an honor to even be considered for this prestigious award and to win it two years consecutively is truly a blessing. This year was definitely unexpected as I did not have the season that I wanted last year but there was some success and it’s great to be recognized for it.”
Smith continued, “This award I feel is a team effort and achievement for everyone who supports me. From the BOA to the BTFA to CellOne Bermuda, and I want to thank all of those special people in those offices.”
Smith concluded, “Going into this strenuous year it is great to know that I have the support of the Government and People of Bermuda. I will make you all proud this summer!”
