Team Bermuda will return to the island on Thursday from the 8th Pan American Wushu Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina with 3 Medals
On the Final Day of competition Garon Wilkinson competed in the Traditional Northern Open Hand Forms and Other Weapons 26 to 35 years divisions as part of the 1st Traditional Pan American Wushu Championship.
Wilkinson managed a flawless Open Hand routine to earn him the Silver Medal. In unfortunate circumstances, Wilkinson's chain whip broke after a strong start in his form in the Open Weapons Division. Another athlete who also used a chain whip offered Wilkinson the option to use his and the crowd began cheering hoping for the option of another attempt. After a full one point deduction and a temporary fix on the weapon Wilkinson delivered a flawless chain whip routine but with the one point deduction finished in 5th place.
In action earlier in the competition Shannon Ford won a Bronze Medal in the 80kg San Shou Division, while Samir Furqan won a Bronze Medal in the 56kg Junior San Shou Division.
