Bermuda Paralympian Jessica Lewis won the Chelsea Clark Award during the Cruisers Sports 8th Annual Awards Gala.
Cruisers Sports for the Physically Disabled was first formed in September 1986 by a dedicated group of parents who wanted their children to be able to participate in sports. As the Cruisers grew and evolved over the years, we became incorporated in March 1999, and a charitable organization number was received in March 2000. As of October 2014, Cruisers Sports branched out a satellite Multi-Sports Group program in Orangeville, started by a parent who moved out of our normal area, and wanted to spread the fun up there.
Clarke was a fellow T34 Canadian Team member and world record holder, she passed away in 2014, with Lewis becoming the first recipient of the Award.
Lewis who is now Switzerland bound for the Swiss Series Track Meets said, “I had a great time received the Chelsea Clark Award for Track!”
Meanwhile fellow Para Athlete Rachael Burrows said, “It is a great way to memorialize a great athlete and recognize another amazing athletes achievements in athletics.”
