Lewis Takes Part in Para Championships Opening Ceremony
The World Para Athletics Championships Opening Ceremony took place at the Charlety Stadium in Paris.
Bermuda’s lone athlete Jessica Lewis and her mother Lorri Lewis took part in the Opening Ceremony.
Lorri Lewis posted on Social Media, “Walking back from the stadium here in Paris after Jessica’s practice on the Worlds Para Athletics World Championships track this morning and I said to Jessica - I vividly remember 30 years ago shortly after you were born and Dr. Peter Perinchief sitting in a chair at the end of my hospital bed saying your daughter has a severe spine problem. I remember thinking what kind of life is this little girl going to have! Jessica replied ‘Welcome to Paris’!! So proud of all she has worked so hard for. She asked me to carry the Bermuda flag for the opening as there was no holders for it on her chair. What an honor!”
