Another first for the Bermuda Football Association, Bermuda’s Female FIFA Assistant Referee Natasha Trott made history as the first Bermudian Female to officiate during the 2022 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship in the Dominican Republic.
Trott was an assistant referee in the Group E match between Puerto Rico and the host, which saw Puerto Rico use a strong second half to down Dominican Republic 3-1 at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo.
Puerto Rico took a 1-0 lead through Brook Hart, but the Dominican Republic got back on level terms, 1-1, in the 43rd minute courtesy of Gabriela Marte.
But a key moment came in first-half stoppage time, with Puerto Rico answering the Dominican Republic goal and going into the halftime locker room with a 2-1 advantage thanks to Alondra Nieves’ score in the 45+1.
A strong defensive performance in the second half, coupled with Ivy Garner’s goal in the 68’ resulted in the 3-1 Puerto Rico triumph.
