World Para Athletics has updated the 2021 competition calendar, including the dates for the World Para Athletics Grand Prix and the European Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Bermuda’s Paralympian Jessica Lewis revealed that she and her team have decided they will not be going to Nottwil, Switzerland, for the races, unfortunately.
“Just too risky and we don’t want to jeopardize our training, depending on how long Ontario’s stay at home order lasts and a few protocols we will hopefully do some races in Canada starting at the end of May,” said Lewis.
Meanwhile French capital Paris was set to host the fourth edition of the Grand Prix from May 5th to 7th. The decision was announced by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) due to the current restrictions in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The series will now head to Europe with Jesolo, Italy staging the competition from April 16th – 18th, followed by Nottwil, Switzerland, where the world’s fastest wheelchair racers will meet from May 14th – 16th.
