Premier David Burt flanked by members of the Cabinet as well as Bermuda Olympic Association President Judy Simons and Bermuda Paralympic Association President Ann Lindroth, welcomed Jessica Lewis at the Cabinet Grounds.
The Motorcade arranged by the Department of Youth & Sports was held to congratulate Lewis on her recent performances during the Parapan Games in Lima Peru.
Premier Burt called Lewis an inspiration to all of Bermuda, “Your accomplishments were absolutely a huge feat.”
Lewis during the Games won a total of 3 Medals and she also set a New Parapan Record.
The Minister of Sports Lovitta Foggo presented Lewis with a cheque for $10,000.00 and a recognition certificate in honor of her accomplishments while in Peru.
In her opening event in the 2019 Lima Parapan Games, Lewis claimed the T53 Women’s 400m Gold Medal, two days later Lewis won the T53 Women’s 800m Silver Medal and then in her final race, Lewis would take to the track to defend her Parapan Games T53 Women’s 100m title, she had claimed in Toronto back in 2015, Lewis was able to claim the Gold Medal and she also broke the Record crossing the line.
