Bermuda Boccia players have begun competing in the Parapan Games in Lima Peru.
Omar Hayward and Yushae DeSilva-Andrade both took to the court for their Individual BC 1 Division opening matches.
DeSilva Andrade went down 5-2 TO her opponent Eduardo Sanchez from Mexico, Sanchez had built at 5-0 lead after the first two rounds, with DeSilva Andrade picking up 1-0 wins in the final two rounds.
Hayward came from 3-0 down in the first round to be level at 3-3 against Mauricio Ibarbure from Argentina, but in the final round Ibarbure was able to get his second to last ball inside Hayward's to pick up a 4-3 win.
Steve Wilson entered the tournament in the BC 4 Division and took on Ercileide Laurinda from Brazil.
Wilson went down 9-2, in a evenly balanced first round Wilson's opponent was able to lob a ball onto the Jack and earn Three Points, the second round was down to the wire as well, with Laurinda executing another perfect lob to win 2-0 and take a 5-0 lead.
Wilson fought back and closed the door on his opponent in the Third Round winning 2-0, Wilson went into the final match down 5-2, Wilson was looking good in the final round but again a Laurinda lob which was picture perfect earned her four points for the win.
In the Second Round of action Hayward defeated Carlos Cano Yanes from Peru, Hayward jumped out to a 5 – 0 lead in the first round, he then won the second round 1 – 0 to lead 6 – 0 after two.
Hayward would then win the third round 4 – 0 and then closed out with a 5 – 0 win in the Final Round.
DeSilva Andrade took on Hanif Mawji from Canada, DeSilva Andrade would fall 6-2, Mawji won the first round 2 – 0, DeSilva Andrade got back in the game winning the Second Round 1 – 0 to make the score 2-1 after two.
Mawji scored a four point third round to take a 6 – 1 lead, before DeSilva Andrade winning the final Round 1 – 0 .
Wilson had the Bermuda fans on the edge of their seats as he defeated Ruiz Eduardo Ruiz from Mexico 5 – 3.
The pair went into the final Round with the score tied at 3 – 3, in the decider Wilson was able to capitalize on his final two balls and earned a 2 point victory in the win.
