The Pan American Games in Lima, Peru officially got underway for Bermuda as the traditional Flag-Raising Ceremony took place in the Athletes' Village.
Under cloudy skies and a slight drizzle the Bermuda Flag was raised in a Ceremony alongside Canada, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
Bermuda athletes from Triathlon, Bowling and Squash marched into the Village square and then stood proud alongside the Bermuda Olympic Association President Judy Simons and Chef-de-Mission Branwen Smith-King as the Flag was raised to the National Anthem.
Bermuda Olympic Association President Simons said, “The athletes are pumped and ready, it is hard to believe four years have gone by so quickly as it feels like we were just in Toronto.”
“Although we have had some athletes withdrawn through injury I am really looking forward to the athletes performing and doing Bermuda proud,” concluded Simons.
