Salah Eddine Bounasr outkicked Asefa Tefera and Stephen Mokoka in the Final stages of the Lake Biwa Marathon in Otsu to win the IAAF Gold Label Road Race in a Personal Best time of 2:07:52.

Tyler Butterfield finished 60th overall clocking a time of 2:21:47, Butterfield would finish 13:55 behind the winner.

Butterfield’s Personal Best time smashes the record he set last year during the Commonwealth Games of 2:26.29

Butterfield said on social media, “I tried to make the most of the opportunity and went out faster than planned, but as they say - when in Rome. I knew 2:22 would be a great day, but dream day would have been 2:20 and training has had a few dreaming days.”

Butterfield continued, “So went out with a great group of guys and hung on as long as I could, as the group got smaller.”

Butterfield concluded, “I am very happy with my time and been a great project for the start of the year.”
