BOA to Host Women in Sports Banquet & Expo

The Bermuda Olympic Association (BOA) announced the 2019 Women in Sports Banquet & Expo will take place March 8th and 9th.

The Banquet, will be held in the Princess Ballrooms of the Hamilton Princess Hotel on Friday, 8 March—International Women’s Day. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Guest speakers will be Jearl Miles-Clark, US Olympian and Silver (1992) and Gold (1996 and 2000) Olympic Medalist in the 4 x 400m Relay, and Hazel Clark, US Olympian and Director of Sports & Business Development for the Bermuda Tourism Authority.

Tickets are $100 and are available from the BOA (Belvedere Building, 69 Pitts Bay Road), Sportseller in Washington Mall, or directly from the BOA’s Women In Sport Committee members.

The Expo, which is free to attend, will be held the following day on Saturday, March 9th from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. in the Princess Ballrooms of the Hamilton Princess Hotel.

It will feature a panel discussion with Katrua Horton-Perinchief (Olympic Diver), Jessica Lewis (Paralympian) and Dominique Richardson (Football) accompanied by their mothers, as well as demonstrations throughout the day and booth displays from several of Bermuda’s National Sports Governing Bodies, and local health and wellness-focused organizations.

The Women In Sports Banquet & Expo is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis, BF&M and AXA.

Judy Simons, BOA President said, “The BOA is committed to the development of athletes across a number of sports and, through our Women in Sport Committee, works actively to increase the participation of Bermudian women and girls in those sports. We’re pleased to present the 2019 Women In Sports Banquet & Expo to highlight the achievements of Bermuda’s female athletes, past and present, and showcase the wide range of activities that young women and girls in our community can get involved and compete in. We’re looking forward to a great event and to hosting a large crowd.
