Day 2 of the Louis Vuitton America's Cup Challenger Playoffs Final saw Emirates Team New Zealand and Artemis Racing back on the water of the Great Sound on a wet day much to the delight of the Locals.
Race One saw Emirates Team New Zealand just barely win the start, but Artemis Racing overtake them on the first leg. Artemis Racing still held the lead through the second gate, with the split at gate 3, only seconds between the two teams.
Emirates Team New Zealand were 20 seconds behind Artemis Racing at the fourth gate, but a massive splashdown by Artemis Racing, allowing Emirates Team New Zealand to close the gap. Artemis Racing were however able to hold off Emirates Team New Zealand and take the win after a nail-biting race, leveling the score at 2-2.
Both teams went flying across the line for the start of the second race, Artemis Racing had built a healthy lead through the first gate, but with both teams bearing down on Gate 3, Emirates Team New Zealand was adjudged to have a slight lead.
Emirates Team New Zealand took the lead and ran with it, 18 seconds ahead of Artemis Racing at Gate 4. Emirates Team New Zealand extend their lead even further, with Artemis Racing just running out of time to close the gap.
With the win Emirates Team New Zealand snatch back the overall lead, but there is now Drama as Artemis Racing retired due to potential issue onboard.
It was a great start by both teams in race three, Artemis Racing was ahead by just a nose on the first leg, Emirates Team New Zealand had built a strong lead on leg 6, with Artemis Racing hoping against hope they make a mistake, but it was not to be as Emirates Team New Zealand crossed the line just ahead of Artemis Racing, but the Swedes call a penalty!
Race officials says no penalty, as Emirates Team New Zealand officially win the final race of the day and make it 4-2.
