Camiko Smith missed out on advancing to the U.S. Open after failing to finish in the top five of the local qualifying event he entered at the Pinehills Golf Course in Massachusetts.
With 9,485 players attempting to qualify for the Erin Hills event this summer, Smith shot a 3-over par 75 and finished well outside the five spots made available from the event to advance.
Smith posted on his social media page, “I played hard out there today in a Local #usopen qualifying at Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Unfortunately I came up a few strokes shy of moving onto Sectionals, I want to say congrats to Chris Gentle on being the low man.”
