Jermal Woolridge fell just shy of becoming a World Champion following his Gold Medal Fight at the 12th Wushu Worlds Championships going on in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Woolridge finished with the Silver Medal, after he loss to Russia’s Ataev Bozigit 2 – 0. The Russian capitalized on his strength to execute takedowns on Woolridge from the start.
In the latter stages of the second round Woolridge was able to rock Bozigit with a punch to the head but was not able to turn the fight around.
Bermuda San Shou President Garn Wilkinson said following the fight, “So Woolridge finished one better than the last World Championships and finished with the Silver. He put up a great fight against Russia but His opponent was stronger and really good. So the curtain closes on our most successful World Wushu Championships ever! Really proud of our team!”
