Hopkins Continues Strong Performance in Dominican Republic

Kaden Hopkins was back in action competing in Stage Four of the National Independence Cyclistic Vuelta 2021.

Hopkins covered the 146 KM Fifth Stage distance in a time of 3:19.29, to cross the line 12th.

Hopkins would finish with the same time as the Stage winner Cesar Alberto Marte Arias.

Hopkins the Under 23 Division Defending Champion, finished second in the Under 23 Division Stage, is now in third place overall in the Division, he is 1 minute and 16 seconds by leader Omar Antonio Ruiz Peralta.

Hopkins remains in 10th place overall with a time of 17:27.02, Klesmas Yurgen Ramirez, is the overall leader with a time of 17:17.55.

Hopkins has retaken the lead in the Points Division with 57, Robert Sierra is in second with 56 points, and Ramirez is third with 55 points.

Hopkins and his Bermuda-Puerto Rico teammates moved up to 9th place overall as a team with an overall time of 9:58.27.

Hopkins said, “As it was a flatter stage I wanted to focus on resting my legs as much as possible. When the break got pulled back with 15km to go I decided to try and get as close as possible to the front to take some more points.

I got enough to get me back into the lead of the point’s competition and my goal for the rest of the week will be to keep it.”
