IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Bicycle Association’s Fat Tire Massive’s third race of the season finally got the seasonal high winds and downpour that separate the hardcore cyclist from the rest as racing took place at the Lagoon Park.

Thunderstorms spared the event which saw 83 racers test their mud skills.

In the Open Male 60 minute race Alexander Miller clocked an 8 lap winning time of 1:05:02, Liam Flannery was second in 1:06:13 and Alan Potts finished third in a time of 1:07:25.

In the Open Female 60 minute race, formerly uncontested Nichole Mitchell finally faced a challenge from Caitlin Conyers. Both women completed six grueling laps with Conyers ultimately taking the win in a time of 1:00:35, with Mitchell clocking 1:02:56.

Male and Female 13 to 15 and Open 30 minute classes, ran together as usual for a total field of 28.

The Open 30 Minute Class was won by Clive Lagley who crossed the line in a 4 lap time of 38:39.5, Raphael Brunorio was second in 39:22.6 and Tony Wood was third in a time of 39:23.8.

In the 13 to 15 class Monty Hastings, Ahzai Smith and Gordon Smith juggled positions in the opening surge but by the third lap, Gordon Smith had figured out the course and got his first season win clocking 34:29.1, Ahzai Smith finished second in 35:05.6 and Hastings finished third with a time of 39:27.0.
