Bermuda cyclist will return to Bermuda with five of the twelve Medals available at the 2019 Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships in Guyana, this after Two more Medals were won during the Road Race.
The 2019 Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships took place along the streets in Bartica, and once again Bermuda had multiple podium appearances.
The first race of the day was the Juvenile Category which was contested over 38 miles. Bermuda’s Alexander Miller fought to get in the breakaway with two other riders while teammates Nazarai Fox and Liam Flannery controlled the pace in the peloton.
Miller was successful and the lead trio came to the final corner together to sprint. Miller was second to the Puerto Rico rider with the USVI competitor in third. In the ensuing bunch sprint Fox and Flannery finished side by side for seventh and eighth.
In the Junior race, Nicholas Narraway finished in third after a somewhat frustrating race. When the eventual winner broke away on the third lap of 10, Narraway attempted to go with the rider but found the pace beyond his capability.
Behind him several riders joined in the chase and he was eventually left with two from Puerto Rico. These two did not contribute further to the chase and with two laps remaining Narraway accelerated away and finished in the Bronze Medal position.
