Nathan Keown led the charge for Ireland today during the Second Stage of the Junior Tour of Ireland, getting up the road early and staying there for most of the race.
However, as an 11-man breakaway was whittled down in the final kilometers, Irish national team rider Keown unfortunately lost his place up front.
Today’s 94.6km Stage from Ennis to Kilkee saw Ian Spenkelink claiming victory in a sprint from the breakaway clocking a time of 2:19.32.
He got the better of Magnus Sheffield and Joe Pidcock, who were 2nd and 3rd respectively with the same time.
Finishing on the same time as the top three were Isaac Peatfield, Quinn Simmons and Matt Kingston.
Mark Smith (Verge) lost a few lengths in the sprint and that cost him four seconds on the others; though he still claimed 7th and put in a terrific ride today.
Nicolas Narraway finished 120th , 23 minutes and 14 second behind the winner clocking a time of 2:45.46.
Narraway has an overall time of 3:44.47, 23 minutes and 20 seconds behind the Leader after Two Stages Sheffield who rides for the Hot Tubes 1 team.
Narraway’s team USA East ID Talent are in 22nd place out of 28 teams with an overall time of 7:19.19.
