The 2017-2018 Furniture Walk Mountain Bike Race Series presented by GubinelliMendoza Wines, Arch Insurance & Becks Beer held its fifth race of the 2017-2018 season at Ferry Point Park where 81 cyclist rose to the challenge under perfect Bermuda weather conditions.
The major switch-up of the day was the Marathon Hour and a half race held for the A, B and Veteran Classes as the final event of the day. Points were allocated by class but an overall finish of the combined classes was posted to ensure bragging rights!
Overall, Young B Class rider Nicholas Narraway clocking 1:34.07 he finished ahead of the combined field of 34 Mountain Bikers finishing his seven laps a scant six seconds ahead of endurance racer and A Class winner, Charles Swart who was clocked at 1:34.13. Alan Potts was third overall and second in the B Class with a time of 1:36.19, beating out Hans Hirchi who was the first Vet over the finish line.
Female Novice had a very tight finish with Zina Jones getting the better of second place finisher Jennifer Wilson by two hundredths of a second! Jones was clocked at 32:54.5, while Wilson was clocked at 32:54.7 Earlena Ingham was a little further back clocking 37:05 for third place.
