The Local riding community is celebrating and will more than likely share the good news as Bermudian Dominique Mayho won his first Road Race in Belgium. Mayho who has been in Belgium for a few weeks will now have the confidence that he can go further.
Mayho competing in the Moerbeke 102.7km Road Race clocked a time of 2:21.54.
Mayho speaking to www.islandstats.com following his victory said, “At the beginning of the race I wasn't feeling too well. I must of ate too much before the race because my chest was burning and every time I went really hard I'll throw up a bit in my mouth.”
Mayho went on to say, “I was thinking about pulling out of the race but as every lap finished I said just one more lap. With 4 laps to go I was pretty sure the race was going to come d own to a bunch sprint so I just set in trying to stay out of trouble and recover for the finish.”
Mayho concluded, “Near the end of the last lap I joined up with my teammate Vitor Zucco, he led me out into the last couple hundred meters and I heard someone coming up the outside so I jumped on his wheel and once through the last corner I opened up my sprint!”
