Technical Issues put the Brakes on Bermuda Cyclists

Dominique Mahyo at the Start

Both Zoenique Williams and Dominique Mahyo had technical issues that officials pointed out to them and as a result Williams Did Not Start and Mahyo Did Not Finish at the Pan American Games in Toronto.

A day after being told during a Pre-Race Check of the Bikes the only issue was the height of the seat on Williams bike that was adjusted, the Bermuda team was informed that Williams’ bars were too far forward and her seat was too far forward.

Adjustments were made, however officials informed the Bermuda team that the seat was to long by a quarter of an inch, a request was made by the Bermuda team to cut the seat, but the request initially was denied, however just minutes before Williams was scheduled to push off race officials decided the seat could be cut, but it was just not enough time to do it and get on the start line, thus forcing Williams into a Did Not Start.

Mahyo was also forced to make adjustments to his bike, however he did make the startline, during the Time Trial Mahyo started feeling the effects of having his bike in a different position, thus forcing him to pull out of the race.
