The Second last points race of the Bermuda Bicycle Association’s Flying Colours Mountain Bike Race Series took place in Hog Bay Park. Eighty-Eight racers strapped on their gear to face the double climbs of ‘The HOG’.
The Small A Class saw Matthew Olivereia take advantage of Robin Horsefield’s loose pedal early and pull ahead lapping the entire field on the way to his win clocking a 12 lap time of 53:50. Chequan Richardson took second with an 11 lap time of 52:57 and Horsefield finished third clocking 53:07 after 11 laps.
In Male Novice, Daron Dowling crashed early and retired while leading the field. This cleared the way for Dirk Hasselkuss to win while completing 6 laps clocking a time of 35:49. Gabriel Wilkinson took second crossing the line in a time of 30:45 and Shane Mora finished third with a time of 30:47, both completed 5 laps.
Gary Raynor won the Male Veteran race completing 9 laps in a time of 43:12, Chris Roque finished second with a time of 43:46 and Charles Swart finished third with a time of 44:18, both riders completed 8 laps. Karen Smith’s time of 44:08 saw her win the Female Veteran race completing 7 laps, while Sarah Bonnett won the Female B Race with a time of 41:36 covering the course with 7 laps, finishing second and one lap down was Ashley Kirkpatrick with a time of 40:29.
