The Bermuda Progressive Labour Party’s Shadow Sports Minister Michael Weeks, extended congratulations to Tyler Smith for his Silver Medal winning performances at the Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships.
Weeks said, “We commend Smith for his performance and extend our best wishes to the entire Bermudian Cycling Team for representing Bermuda with Honor in Suriname.”
Competing in the Juvenile 15-16 Age Group Category, Smith was part of a final two man breakaway in the Road Race which made it to the finish line. Though out-sprinted by his fellow escapee from Trinidad for the Regional Title, Smith showed strong tactical savvy to get into the break and work with the other rider to stay away from the chasers and be prepared for the sprint.
During the Time Trial the day before, Smith won his first Silver Medal during the Individual Time Trial.
