The Bermuda Bicycle Association has selected six athletes to represent the country at next month’s Elite Caribbean Cycling Championship in Puerto Rico.
Commonwealth Games athletes Dominique Mayho and Nicole Mitchell will be joined by Darren Glasford, Mark Hatherley, Che’quan Richardson and Zoenique Williams for the competition which will be held on October 11th and 12th near Ponce in the southern part of the island.
Williams and Mitchell finished second and third last year in the Road Race and this year they will be aiming for similar results as the top three women will earn spots for their country at the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games.
In the Men’s Road Race there are six Pan Am Games spots up for grabs in an anticipated field of 100 competitors in Puerto Rico.
This week Bermuda’s Junior Cycling Team heads to Suriname for the Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships.
Gabriella Arnold will lead the squad against regional powerhouses such as Puerto Rico, Guyana and Trinidad. Racing takes place in the capital city of Paramarimbo on October 4th and 5th.
